Resurrection Weekend Reflections

This weekend, Resurrection weekend, it is good to reflect on the great gift that has been made for us.  The fact  that the very God of the universe, the One who created all things, is all powerful, all holy, all knowing, would have the depth of love to be willing to come to this tiny planet in the vastness of the universe, enter our world as a tiny human being, then allow Himself to be killed in the way criminals were killed, just to offer His righteous life as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, and after rising again from the grave, promise to come again for us and take us to live in a perfect world one day — this fact causes us to slip to our knees in adoration, praise and humility.  What a promise the resurrection of Jesus gives us today.  May we live our lives in the hope of the soon coming of Jesus, when all the righteous who have ever lived will on that day be resurrected also.  And may we live our lives daily filled with the Holy Spirit in order that all that we do, all that we say, all that we are, brings honor and glory to Him.

This weekend makes me glad to be an Adventist — one that is grateful for the gift on the cross, accepts the joy of God’s grace, acts with grace to all those around, and lives in eager anticipation of the soon return of Christ, all the while treasuring the opportunity to reflect the glory and character of the One who has given me redemption.

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and for ever. Amen.”  Jude 1:24, 25
